"The B*tches are Witches"

Films: The Witches (1990)

Alias: None

Type: Mystical

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of an average human.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: One of the most primal fears about evil magical creatures is what they might do to your children. And sure enough, there are beings who abhor children. Enough to want to commit mass infanticide on a global scale.

History: Witches are everywhere, out to kill children for their innocence. Leading them is the Grand High Witch, whom they both fear and admire. And now, the hag has come up with a new way to dispose of the world's children. With a thing called Formula 86, she will put it into the world's sweets, and the children who eat it will turn into mice! It's not a pleasant thought, now is it?

Notable Kills: Nothing special

Final Fate: One kid-turned mouse manages to sneak copious amounts of Formula 86 into the food that the Witches are eating at a fancy restaurant. Soon enough, they are all turned into mice and killed by the staff, the Grand High Witch getting turned into a hairless rat before being axed by a meat cleaver.

Powers/Abilities: Magical spells mostly for destruction.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-There's a reason why Roald Dahl was worried that this film would scar young kids. The Grand High Witch's true form might be one of the most hideous effects that Jim Henson's ever conceived, and her plan is pretty much genocide wrapped in candy and rodents. Even her defeat will give kids insomnia.

Trivia: -The original story ended with the Witches defeated, but the kid was still a mouse. Dahl was reportedly furious when the movie had him turned back to normal at the last minute.

-On the flip side, Dahl was ecstatic when his pick for the Grand High Witch, the imposing Anjelica Huston, was approved.

Evil comes in many forms, but we never expected a Jim Henson work to be forgotten!
You'll never look at mice the same way again.
Thank GOD this scene was brief!
